Being Green in Hebron during the pandemic

— Remember that masks and gloves of any kind are NOT recyclable —

It can be difficult to “be green” and take care of the earth while trying to take care of yourself and family during the pandemic. But we can find ways to manage both as we transition into our new normal. Below are a few ideas!

WORK FROM HOME

(If you can!) Telecommuting cuts down on carbon emissions from commuting in a vehicle

GET OUTSIDE

Go for a walk, hike or even sitting in your backyard to observe and appreciate nature around you

ADJUST YOUR AIR

In the summer, try a couple degrees warmer on your thermostat or vis versa in the winter

PLANT A GARDEN

Growing fruits/veggies can reduce strain on the food chain, while flowers/herbs can help the pollinators!

BUY LOCAL

It’s a little tougher to go far these days, so keep your driving close to home and support local businesses

TRY COMPOSTING

Being home more can produce more food waste, try a composting bin in your yard

DONATE OLD TEXTILES

Be sure to donate any clothes or fabrics you’ve found while cleaning to the purple bins at the Transfer Station

BRUSH UP ON RECYCLING

With social distancing it might be harder to know what’s in and out, brush up so you know exactly what can go in the chute
